The person who hires a lawyer pays the retainer fee and the balance of the fee is negotiated or litigated.

Alimony is determined on a case by case basis and it can be paid just until the final judgment or a few years thereafter or until the recipient marries or dies.

The amount of child support is determined by a child support guideline chart which is based upon the net combined monthly income of the mother and father.

9. WHAT ABOUT VISITATION RIGHTS?
The law encourages frequent and continuing contact between a child and both parents.

10. CAN THE CHILD BE MOVED OUT OF FLORIDA?
The relocation issue is determined by at least six factors including substitute visitation, the best interest of the child, and whether or not the parents can afford substitute visitation if the child lives in another state.

11. HOW ARE ASSETS DIVIDED?
All assets acquired during the marriage are divided but not necessarily sold and usually divided equally.

12. WHO PAYS THE DEBTS?
The debts incurred during the marriage are usually divided equally but it does not mean that the debts will really be paid by either party.
